Cyprus - Location information - Ayia Napa
Ayia Napa is an attractive beach resort that became a clubber’s top destination in the 90s following a sharp rise in the number of younger visitors. The current mayoress led a move to clean up the area’s image after some bad press caused by more unruly tourists, and now this part of Cyprus has again become welcoming to families and the party-going visitor alike. Over a quarter of a million people come for the club scene every summer, with an eclectic range of tastes accounted for in what is on offer in the area. There are also plenty of other activities that continue to attract visitors such as watersports, ancient buildings, local markets selling various hand-crafted wares, and a great variety of restaurants.
The resort of Ayia Napa is extremely popular with UK, European and Cypriot families in the summer and in the winter becomes home to people from Scandinavian countries seeking shelter from the dark and cold days at home. Those seeking a quieter break in the area can enjoy the island during the calmer months either side of the main summer season that runs from June to September. The geography of the island means that sheltered beaches are not too difficult to find and the beautiful sunshine on this Mediterranean jewel of an island can still be fully enjoyed.
There are a number of reasons as to why investing in Ayia Napa is a good idea. Firstly, the area has the best sandy beaches in Cyprus, making it popular with the sun, sea and sand-seeking holidaymakers. Ayia Napa also attracts a wide range of nationalities and is moving towards being an all-year-round resort, which will increase demand for properties from increased visitor numbers, and make competition for properties (and therefore prices) higher at this later stage of the market. Getting in before this almost inevitable boom is therefore a very sensible idea.
